Program Philosophy: EPBBA, Inc. was created to provide boys who either live in Eden Prairie or attend Eden Prairie schools with an opportunity to compete and to develop their skills. The league is designed to be competitive as well as to give all participants an equal opportunity to play. To accomplish this, EPBBA, Inc. has instituted rules that require equal play. It is the coach’s responsibility to coach and to rotate the players. The coaches are volunteers and it is necessary for everyone to give them support, as the program could not function without them. The program is designed to be competitive and each game will have a score. NO INDIVIDUAL AWARDS SHALL BE AWARDED by coaches or parents.
Kindergarten: The Kindergarten Program has three primary objectives.
-
First, all participants will be given a thorough introduction to basketball fundamentals.
-
Second, interested volunteers will be given a chance to coach and learn about the EPBBA program with the hope they will continue with their much appreciated volunteering in the following years.
-
Finally, a group of High School players will be given the opportunity to give back to the program by helping teach the kids and coaches some of the things they learned from the program.
The program will start with 3 sessions/clinics, conducted by EPHS Head Basketball Coach Dave Flom. The first two sessions will be run by the High School players and they will demonstrate many of the drills/skills that the coaches will be encouraged to teach throughout the season, the next session will be run by the coaches with emphasis on fundamentals and using these fundamentals in informal 3 vs 3 scrimmages.
Volunteers: For the EPBBA to run a successful basketball program, we need volunteers to coach. We will provide a coaching manual to all coaches with practice outlines for each week. In addition, during the clinic's first two sessions the high school boys will demonstrate all of the drills needed throughout the season. Please indicate at least one volunteer job on the registration form.
